Service and Repairs

With a service interval of 3000 miles, an on-going service schedule is key for keeping your classic aircooled VW on the road and ready to go when you are.

I pride myself on my ability to keep classic ‘dubs in tip top condition, and this includes all the important service jobs that many places overlook. Stuff like adjusting and lubricating the brake components, handbrake cables, and lubricating the front beam-axles.

As Doktor Dub I also maintain the Groovy Campers classic VW hire fleet, undertaking all work and repairs to keep the hire fleet on top form.

Restoration

Having undertaken various restoration works on both beetles and campers Doktor Dub knows how rusty old Volkswagens can be.

Recent Projects

I'm just getting to the end of a chassis renovation on a 1978 converted Panel van.

While I had the van over on the body roller, I replaced the inner, middle and outer sills, cross members, outriggers and jacking points which were all completely rotten. I also made sure to fix up solid anchoring points for the seat belts. Now it's welded up I have primed and painted the chassis with Red oxide primer and Gravitex - and after replacing all the brake pipes I'll be applying a generous coat of smoothrite, and waxoyling the underside to protect all my good work and the customers investment!

Last winter I did a full body restoration on Harry, a late bay with an original Westfalia interior. Harry was rusty in the all the usual places - not helped by some bodged previous repairs and loads of filler! So, I put together a schedule to bring Harry back to his former glory and worked my way around the van cutting in new lower sections as needed and sorted out the rust around the windows etc. After a long time spent in the paint shop we'll be putting Harry back together again soon. But first there is another Westy waiting for a bit of Doktor Dub love....
